Can you imagine becoming healthier after cardiac bypass surgery or a diagnosis of chronic obstructive lung disease, myocardial infarction (heart attack), or angina? At Johnston Memorial Hospital, our cardiac and pulmonary rehabilitation services can help you do so.
The program, which is designed to increase your strength and endurance while decreasing your symptoms and risk factors, is staffed by highly skilled registered respiratory therapists, registered nurses, and a physician. Our services are tailored to your special needs and begin with a complete physician-supervised evaluation to develop your personal exercise plan. Before, during, and after your rehabilitation sessions, we'll maintain close watch on your heart rhythm, blood pressure, and oxygen levels to ensure your safety.
More comprehensive than a home-based exercise program, our services also include patient education and support groups, and may be covered by your insurance provider. Activities are often performed in a group setting which can provide enjoyment to participants because you'll meet others who've gone through similar experiences. We believe you'll see an improvement in both your physical and emotional health, as well as your ability to manage your disease day-to-day.
The cardiac and pulmonary rehabilitation department is located on the fifth floor of the hospital. For more information about our services or to tour our facility, please call us at (276) 676-9821. To join the program, please contact your physician for a referral.
