  Imaging Care

Radiology and Imaging tests are often the first and most crucial steps in diagnosing a disease or injury. At Johnston Memorial Hospital, we offer a variety of traditional and digital procedures including ultrasounds, computerized axial tomography (CAT) scans, mammography, nuclear medicine, and magnetic resonance imaging (MRIs) - all at your physician's request. We also provide interventional radiology services.

In the medical imaging world, the MRI is renowned for its ability to safely provide a 360-degree internal representation of a patient's torso, head, or extremities and identify a number of conditions or injuries - from tumors to sprains. Until recently, however, the test was extremely uncomfortable for patients who were placed inside a very narrow opening for an extended period of time. At JMH, this is not the case because we utilize an open-bore MRI and a short bore MRI.  Both unit types can accommodate patients of varying sizes without the confining discomfort of a traditional MRI unit.  Proudly accredited by American College of Radiologist, the MRI department is sensitive to the anxiety many claustrophobic patients experience when undergoing this type of procedure and are compassionately dedicated to minimizing such apprehensions.

We are also firmly dedicated to meeting the specific needs of our female patients. The JMH Women's Imaging Center is staffed by caring professionals who have extensive experience in women's health issues that often require multiple radiological and imaging examinations such as mammograms, stereotactic biopsies, bone density testing, and ultrasounds.  Click here to learn more about JMH Women's Imaging Center.

In the end, our imaging capabilities are only as good as our radiology team members.  That's why we work with highly trained, skilled, and caring radiologists and staff who perform procedures and interpret test results. It's just another way that compassion and technology go hand in hand at JMH.  To learn more about our radiology and imaging services, call us at (276) 676-7108.
