Nowhere are the strides of modern medicine more important or apparent than in the area of oncology. While the likelihood of recovering from cancer is far greater than it was just a few short years ago, we at Johnston Memorial Hospital know how frightening a diagnosis of cancer can be. That's why we staff our Oncology Unit with only the most highly trained physicians and nurses to administer chemotherapy and other treatments, counsel you on available options, and act as your resource for the latest research on the disease.
Our services are available to both inpatients and outpatients. The oncology unit is accredited by American College of Surgeons and has an active Cancer Committee, Tumor Board, and Investigational Review Board. To learn more about our oncology services or to schedule an appointment, please call us at (276) 676-6626.
Regardless of health-care provider, we invite those affected by cancer to join our Cancer Education Support Group, which meets to share experiences and learn new ways to manage the disease at 2 p.m. on the fourth Tuesday of January-November. You are also invited to attend our Cancer Education Classes, which cover specific topics about the disease, at 2 p.m. on the second Tuesday of January-November. Both are held in the Cancer Outreach Associates Conference Room, and guests are welcome to join you. Please call (276) 676-7273 for more information.
