Aging, occupation, activity, genetics. All of these factors can affect the health of our bones and joints. At Johnston Memorial Hospital, we are fully committed to providing the most up-to-date techniques and therapies for minimizing your pain and maximizing your mobility in the event of orthopedic infirmity.
In addition to their expertise in treating worker’s compensation, sports, and trauma injuries, our progressive and respected team of orthopedic surgeons, physical and occupational therapists, surgery staff, and nurses are widely recognized for their advanced treatment of the following conditions:
Total Joint Replacement – you’ll be amazed at the improvement in your quality of life after receiving a needed knee, hip, or shoulder replacement at JMH. For partial knee replacements, we employ the Uni-knee technique, which minimizes the scarring usually experienced with traditional replacement surgery.
Degenerative Joints – Dr. Timothy McGarry is the first in Abingdon to use the KyphX Xpander® inflatable bone tamp to treat the spinal fractures caused by osteoporosis that often result in debilitating back pain and kyphosis (commonly known as “dowager’s hump”). This unusual-sounding device is actually a minimally invasive surgical balloon, and replaces less-effective treatments such as braces and pain medication.
